Located on the northern slope of the Island, it is 25 km by road from Santa Cruz de Tenerife. It has a surface area of 14,11 Km 2, at an altitude of 520 m and a population of 7490.

To the northeast it limits with El Sauzal, to the southeast with Candelaria, and to the southwest with Victoria de Acentejo. The coast is mostly full of cliffs, with some beaches.
